Careers

Ms Frizell coordinates the schools career programs. All students in Years 9 to 12 are surveyed about their career aspirations and future plans. Based on their responses, students are individually case-managed and offered a range of courses and career related activities tailored to their needs.

GTHS Careers Website

The School has its own dedicated career website: www.gthscareers.com. Both students and parents access a wide range of career-related information on this site. It is especially useful for senior students, but younger students can also benefit - for example, by finding information on part-time employment while still at school. Students are encouraged to register in the "Student Only" area of the website. Once registered, they can access a variety of helpful templates and resources. These include tools to help them write a resume and cover letter, prepare for interviews, choose appropriate attire, and more.

The Learning Centre

The Learning Centre is a dynamic and supportive study space available to our senior students. Guided by our Senior Study Coordinator, students receive assistance with developing effective study skills, exploring a variety of learning techniques, and planning and completing assessment tasks. They are also supported in setting and working towards their educational and career goals.

The Learning Centre has been revitalised with new furniture, laptops and whiteboard tables, creating an even more engaging and collaborative environment. A growth mindset is actively promoted in this space, as we believe it's essential for students to persevere, aim high, and keep striving towards their goals. Students are encouraged to embrace challenges, learn from their mistakes and continually develop their knowledge and skills.

The Learning Centre is open to all students on Wednesdays after school (from 3.10- 4.30pm) for Snack and Study sessions.

Career Support at GTHS
