Science

Science is mandatory for all students from Year 7 to Year 10.

Science 7-10 provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real-world problems. Science emphasises the skills for working scientifically, as well as critical and creative thinking to address scientific issues.

The Science Faculty at Glendale Technology High School (GTHS) strives to develop students' knowledge, understanding and skills to explain and make sense of the biological, chemical, physical and technological world. This will enable them to make educated choices and responsible decisions as individuals and as part of the wider community.

Science courses at GTHS aim to develop critical thinking skills and creativity in all students, as well as nurturing an understanding of the world around us, whilst encouraging an interest and enjoyment of Science and its disciplines. This will equip students with a range of competencies which will prepare students for further study in the various disciplines of Science and its related areas.

There are a variety of additional activities outside of the classroom available for students studying Science to engage in throughout the year. These include events such as: The Science and Engineering Challenge, HSC Experiment-fest, as well as excursions to Taronga Zoo, Hunter Wetlands and Luna Park.
